During these unprecedented times it has been enlightening to take in the different challenges people are setting themselves not only to both improve their mental and physical health but also raise money for such great causes.

Sir Thomas Moore, popularly known as Captain Tom, a former British Army officer known for his achievements raising money for charity in the run-up to his 100th birthday during this COVID-19 pandemic. Sir Tom began to walk laps of his garden in aid of NHS Charities Together, with the goal of raising £1,000 by his hundredth birthday, as you know he smashed this target. Additionally, he featured in a cover version of the song “You’ll Never Walk Alone”, with proceeds going to the same charity. The single topped the UK music charts and made him the oldest person to achieve a UK number one.
Another story of challenge and determination shows a young lady called Merry James who has A-T or Ataxia Telangiectasia which means, among other things that her body doesn’t work well and Merry is no longer able to walk. Merry used to be able to run, jump and go to gymnastics and dance class. Merry is grateful of the support the A-T Society, helping her and her family over the years.
Admirably, Merry decided to walk 26 steps everyday for 26 days, she states, “That might not sound like much but it’s like running a marathon everyday for me”
Merry has videoed her progress on Facebook, and we at Easy Lift have been delighted to donate to her cause. If you would like to support Merry’s fundraising, here is the link – https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fundraiser-display/showROFundraiserPage?userUrl=MerryJames&pageUrl=3
